Privacy Policy

This explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and what you can do about it. We collect what the product needs and nothing more. We never sell your data.

What we collect

Account: email address, or phone number if you sign in by text, and the dates you sign in.
Profile: first name, birth year, gender, relationship status, city and state, who you want to meet, how far you will travel, sports you want to match on, interests, an about text, and up to six photos.
Your kids: for each child, son or daughter, age and sport. We do not ask for names and you must not post them.
Activity: your likes and passes, matches, messages, event check-ins, reports and blocks.
Location: we convert your city and state to approximate coordinates to measure distance. If you turn on “Near me,” your device location is used on your device, only while the app is open, to sort events by distance and to offer check-in when you are at a venue. It is off by default, you can turn it off at any time, and we do not store or transmit it.
Technical: IP address (hashed for the waitlist), browser type, and push notification tokens if you turn notifications on.

Relationship status and who you want to meet can reveal sensitive information. We collect them only because the Dating lane cannot work without them, and we show them only to members who can see your card.

How we use it

To run the service: show your card to members who fit your settings, create matches, deliver messages and notifications.
To keep people safe: review reports, enforce the guidelines, detect fake accounts, and cooperate with law enforcement when required.
To improve the product: aggregate, de-identified statistics about usage.
To contact you about your account, safety issues, or changes to these terms.

Who sees it

Other members: your card (first name, age, status, city, kids' ages and sports, interests, about text, photos) is visible to members whose settings match yours in the lane you turned on. Dating profiles are visible only to members who also chose Dating. Your email, phone, birth date and coordinates are never shown.
Service providers: Supabase (database, authentication, storage), Vercel (hosting), Google Workspace (email), OpenStreetMap Nominatim (one-time city geocoding), and, when enabled, Twilio (text messages) and Resend (email delivery). They process data on our instructions.
Law enforcement: when required by law or to protect someone from harm.
No one else. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

Your profile and content stay until you delete them or your account. Messages are kept while either participant keeps their account. Reports and enforcement records are kept for up to three years for safety and legal reasons. Backups roll off within 30 days.

Your choices and rights

Edit anything on your profile at any time.
Turn either lane off, or hide yourself at an event, in one tap.
Delete your account from your profile or by emailing hello@bleachermates.com. We confirm within 7 days.
Minnesota residents have rights under the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act, and California residents under the CCPA, to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of their data, and to opt out of targeted advertising and sale (we do neither). Email hello@bleachermates.com and we will respond within 45 days.

Children

Bleacher Mates is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Information about your children is limited to age and sport, with no names, and is posted by you, the parent. If you believe a minor has an account, email us and we will remove it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the people who run the service, and member data is protected by row-level security rules in our database. No system is perfectly secure; report any concern to hello@bleachermates.com.
